Proud history of  UPS

It's interesting to note that the world's largest delivery corporation started in 1909 with a $100 loan to two teenagers: James Casey and Claude Ryan. With that money, they launched the American Messenger Company in the cellar under Claude's uncle's tavern in Seattle.

Ten years later, in 1919, after World War I, the business was renamed United Parcel Service when they  expanded to Oakland, California. To add a sense of professionalism to their image, they painted all the company's cars the signature UPS brown color. By 1930, the young company had grown to ship goods to the east coast and they opened their headquarters in New York City. Eventually the UPS territory grew and grew with both local and long-distance service.

UPS Truck Driver

In 2021, United Parcel Service is a huge multinational corporation with delivery to virtually every country in the world. UPS employs more than half a million people and delivers an average of 24 million packages every day. The first parcel service of America to be able to reach every address in the country or territory, UPS can ship all sizes of goods and track deliveries down to the details of what city the package has gone through.

Business service impacts related to coronavirus/UPS

Throughout the coronavirus, UPS services continued with few business service impacts related to coronavirus. The main business service impacts related to coronavirus reflected the dramatic increase in online ordering during the early days in the USA, when coronavirus UPS services expanded dramatically.

Related to coronavirus, UPS worked to protect both drivers and customers with social distancing, masks, and sometimes gloves.  Also related to coronavirus, close attention was given for food shipment delivery to homes throughout the country or territory.

UPS remained open for business service even when offices were closing and shifting to working from home.  UPS rebounded from any  business service impacts related  to coronavirus and kept its UPS store locations open for business service and personal shipment. With the coronavirus, close track of deliveries was critical as packages moved from city to city, state to state and territory.
